i think that we need an accurate count of weblogs. today an article cited blogdex's statistics as a guage of the weblog world, with 13,119 weblogs worth indexing. of course we all know that the true number is much higher, and i usually estimate around 400,000, given the totals i have received from livejournal and blogger.
does anyone else have a better estimate?

On a completely unrelated note blogdex has set my weblog to offline again. I sent you an e-mail about this immediately as it happened around Christmas. I think it was only active for a day or so. Since my blog is hosted at manilasites.com and I don't take it down there seems to be an issue with the offline code in use by blogdex. Just thought I'd let you know.

On a related note...sounds like the time is ripe for a weblog census. Get it out to the current batch of regular webloggers and ask them to forward it anyone they know who has ever done any blogging. Direct each participant to a web site where the info is tabulated. Could be a simple web-based questionaire. Would need to come up with a list of questions which you would be appropriate for a census of this nature. Find someone to donate the web space and another to do a little scripting and database work. Let's do it!!! :-)
